Hyundai’s N Vision 74: Hydrogen-powered concept makes production
Get ready – Hyundai has announced that the much-anticipated N Vision 74 – their hydrogen-powered concept car – is officially going into production.
This neo-retro beauty, which draws its inspiration from the 1974 Pony Coupe, has had us all aroused since it first appeared back in 2022.
Although Hyundai haven’t announced a specific launch date yet or pricing, the slide deck from a recent Hyundai investors presentation made it clear that the car will be built. It’s also not clear on how many units will be produced or even which country they may be launched in.
From concept to reality
Hyundai has taken the retro charm of the Pony Coupe and fused it with cutting-edge hydrogen technology.
The result being; a car that not only looks incredible – but also packs a serious punch.
What we do know is that under the bonnet will be a hydrogen fuel-cell system powering two highly-efficient electric motors, delivering over 500 kW of power. That’s around 670 horsepower to us mere mortals.
And if that wasn’t enough, it will have a range of over 372 miles (600 kilometers), plus it’ll produce enough torque to easily light up your back two Pirellis – 900Nm to be exact.
Better than that, because it’s powered by hydrogen, filling up the tank takes just five minutes – about as quick as grabbing a Costa cappuccino, or fetching a Greggs sausage roll.
High-performance engineering
Hyundai has gone all out with the N Vision 74, ensuring it’s as much about performance as it is about style.
Flat out, the car’s top speed hits 155mph (250kph), and it comes equipped with a state-of-the-art cooling system to keep everything running nicely, even when pushed to the absolute limit.
Whether on the racetrack or the open road, Hyundai seemed to have designed this car to perform.
Inside the N Vision 74
Hop inside and you’ll find an interior that blends the best of both worlds: classic design cues from the Pony Coupe, and the latest in 21st century tech.
The cockpit is embellished with motorsport-inspired seating and Hyundai’s signature Performance Blue accents.
We are still eagerly waiting to hear more details on pricing and availability, but one thing is for sure – the N Vision 74 could be a really compelling car, not just in the hydrogen-powered vehicle market, but with its blend of high performance, sustainability, and eye-catching design: in the wider sports car market as a whole.
