Alpine’s hydrogen V6 Alpenglow to make UK debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed

Alpine will bring its hydrogen-powered Alpenglow Hy6 concept to the UK for the first time this week, as part of a high-octane 70th anniversary celebration at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The futuristic hydrogen race car – powered by a 740bhp twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 internal combustion engine – will make its dynamic UK debut on the famous hillclimb, showcasing Alpine’s commitment to “environmental innovation with sportiness.”

First revealed at the Paris Motor Show in 2024, the Hy6 represents the brand’s ongoing exploration of hydrogen combustion as a low-carbon future for high-performance motoring.
While it remains a concept, the Alpenglow’s V6 layout and motorsport positioning suggest Alpine sees hydrogen as more than a gimmick – particularly with Formula 1 and Le Mans both weighing up zero-carbon fuels for future regulations.
But the hydrogen star won’t be the only attraction at the Alpine stand. The Renault-owned sports car maker will also unveil the world dynamic debut of the new Alpine A290 Rallye – a motorsport-prepped version of the 2025 European Car of the Year.
Based on the all-electric A290 hot hatch, the Rallye version adds a full roll cage, ZF limited-slip differential, and extensive chassis upgrades.

Cars on the hill
Also making their first UK runs will be the A110 R Ultime – a hardcore send-off for the iconic mid-engined coupé, due to end production in 2026 – and the new A390, a 100% electric, five-seat ‘sport fastback’ previewing Alpine’s move into higher-volume segments.
Alpine’s usual suspects – the standard A110 and A290 road cars – will also be on display, while the BWT Alpine F1 team will be running up the hill daily to round out the brand’s 70th anniversary showcase.
Alpine cars will feature across the First Glance, New Classics, and Supercar runs throughout the weekend, with the A110 R Ultime entered into Sunday’s timed shootout.
