Fleets keen for hydrogen, says Venson

Are fleets ready to embrace hydrogen? According to Venson Automotive Solutions, the answer is yes.

In a recent survey, 37% of drivers expressed interest in both hydrogen and electric vehicles, with an impressive 22% favouring hydrogen alone.

This marks a significant rise in hydrogen’s popularity since 2021, when only 11% showed interest.

A growing demand for alternative fuels

Fleet drivers are increasingly open to green vehicle options beyond electric. While electric vehicles (EVs) have dominated the conversation, the latest survey results highlight growing interest in hydrogen as a viable alternative.

Simon Staton, Client Management Director at Venson, emphasised that hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) could soon play a larger role if the necessary refuelling infrastructure is developed.

Staton noted that 62% of respondents believe manufacturers should invest equally in hydrogen and electric vehicles.

The flexibility of hydrogen, especially for large vehicles like HGVs, offers a compelling case for its future in fleet management.

As Venson’s white paper, “The Big Hydrogen Question,” outlines, hydrogen may be the green alternative that fleet managers have been waiting for.

Hydrogen’s potential as a sustainable fuel source is clear, but its success hinges on investment in refuelling infrastructure.
