MrBeast has nearly 290 million subscribers on Youtube, and was lucky enough to test drive a Hyperion XP-1 on his video $1 vs $100,000,000 Car! (which has had 300m views to date).

Sadly he is plugging a new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 phone for most of the test drive – but he does give some views on the hydrogen-powered supercar during the video, with the Hyperion XP-1 appearing after 8 minutes and 17 seconds.

YouTube star MrBeast says: “This $2million limited edition hydrogen car is completely powered by hydrogen but the car is still being developed, so this is just a prototype.

“They built this car as a proof of concept so driving it on the road is…questionable.

“Also, I’d wear a seatbelt but it doesn’t have one – they haven’t got that far yet.

“Although this car uses hydrogen instead of gas [petrol], it still has a range of over 1,000 miles and a top speed of 221 mph.”

About the Hyperion XP-1

The Hyperion XP-1 achieves a breathtaking 0-60 mph acceleration in approximately 2.2 seconds and reaches a top speed surpassing 220 mph.

Among its remarkable attributes is its extraordinary range, exceeding 1,000 miles on a single tank of hydrogen. This surpasses the capabilities of most contemporary electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

Technology and Innovation

The XP-1 employs supercapacitors for energy storage. This allows for rapid charging and discharging, bolstering the car’s performance.

Integrated solar panels contribute to recharging the supercapacitors, enhancing energy efficiency and further extending the vehicle’s range.

Features

The strategic use of titanium-reinforced composite materials significantly reduces the vehicle’s weight, optimising both performance and efficiency.

The XP-1 features active aerodynamics that dynamically adjust to optimize drag and downforce, providing superior stability and enhancing its formidable performance.
